The 2027 electricity tariffs, municipality by municipality
The electricity tariff for the model household falls 3.4 % at the median on 1 January 2027, from 27.89 to 26.91 centimes per kilowatt hour. Of the 2’107 documented municipalities, 1’799 see their tariff fall, 305 see it rise and 3 stay at the same level.
A modest but widely shared fall
For the H4 profile, a household consuming 4’500 kilowatt hours a year, the median annual bill goes from 1’255 to 1’211 francs. The median saving therefore comes to 41 francs over the year, a real amount but one of a different order from the other items in a household budget.
The fall is nonetheless the rule rather than the exception: more than eight municipalities in ten see their tariff retreat. That is the opposite of the movement in health insurance premiums, which rise everywhere on 1 January 2027.

What an electricity tariff is made of
The price per kilowatt hour adds together four elements: the energy itself, grid use, municipal levies and the federal surcharge. Only the energy share follows the markets directly. The grid depends on local infrastructure costs and moves more slowly, which is why falling wholesale prices do not feed through everywhere at the same pace.
Differences between municipalities remain of a wholly different order from the annual change. In 2027 the tariff runs from 10.56 centimes in Rongellen (GR) to 45.88 centimes in Kestenholz (SO), an annual bill of 475 francs against 2’065 francs for the same household.
The H4 profile serves as a model household that is identical everywhere. It corresponds to a five-room flat with an electric cooker and a tumble dryer. It is not everyone’s consumption, but it is the same in every municipality, which makes tariffs comparable with one another. A household using half as much will see its bill vary in the same proportions.
A tariff fixed for the whole year
Grid operators report their tariffs before the end of August, the Federal Electricity Commission publishes its national comparison in early September, and the new tariffs apply from 1 January to 31 December with no revision during the year. The amount read today therefore holds for the twelve months ahead.
Official tariffs from the Federal Electricity Commission, H4 consumption profile (4’500 kWh a year), standard product, all components included. The comparison covers municipalities documented for 2026 and for 2027, computed by the same processing chain. Where several grid operators serve one municipality, Civiora shows the median of their tariffs. A percentage change says nothing about the level reached.
In short
- -3.4 %: median change in the tariff between 2026 and 2027
- 1’799: municipalities falling out of 2’107 documented
- 41 CHF: saved per year by the model household, at the median
